Addiction affects tens of millions of people every year. Unfortunately, only a small fraction of those suffering from addiction seek out the help needed to treat the disease. This is for a variety of reasons. Some people simply won’t acknowledge that they have a problem while others feel a sense of shame or embarrassment and, as a result, won’t seek out substance abuse treatment either.
It’s important to remember, though, that substance abuse is a disease in the same way that many other, more acceptable ailments are also diseases. That’s why substance abuse treatment in New Jersey is so important.
Why Should I Receive New Jersey Drug Rehab?
When someone is suffering from a drug alcohol addiction or an addiction and a co-occurring mental illness, that person isn’t the only one that is affected. Drug and alcohol addiction can affect those around the person with the addiction just as much as it does the person who is suffering from the addiction.
Not only that, but addiction can bring with it serious consequences. In addition to the variety of health issues that can arise as a result of a substance use issue and the possibility of death from an overdose, addiction can lead to other issues such as money problems, loss of jobs, loss of homes or residences, and loss of loved ones or marriages. Addiction can even cause a person to do something illegal, which can then cause that person to become incarcerated.
For individuals who live in New Jersey and suffer from addiction, attending New Jersey drug rehab can be a great way for individuals to get themselves back on the right track in a healthy way. After all, when New Jersey residents attend rehab at New Jersey addiction treatment centers, every other person in that rehab facility in NJ is there to support them and get them clean and sober.
New Jersey drug rehab addiction treatment centers want to provide every one of their residents with the tools that they need to not only get clean and sober but remain clean and sober after they’ve completed Jersey drug treatment. That goes for us here at Kingsway Recovery as well.
Our team of highly trained, licensed professionals works with each of our patients to create a treatment plan that’s custom-made and best suits his or her needs.
What Should I Expect From Substance Abuse Treatment?
Overcoming the Negative Connotations That People Associate With Attending Rehab At Addiction Treatment Centers
The idea of attending rehab in NJ can deter many New Jersey residents with substance addictions and co-occurring disorders from getting the help that they need. Society often associates a negative connotation to receiving addiction or co-occurring disorders treatment. Some people may even develop a negative view of addiction treatment because they’ve heard a story from someone that they know who has received addiction treatment at a recovery center but had a bad experience.
When it comes to receiving addiction treatment at a recovery center, it’s important to remember that the goal is for drug rehab center patients is to overcome their addictions. Think of it like an ailment that you’re receiving treatment for at a regular doctor’s office. The goal in that situation is to treat your ailment. Substance use treatment is no different.
What Should I Expect From New Jersey Drug Rehab?
For starters, our number one priority here at Kingsway Recovery is to provide our patients with the help that they need to live happy, healthy, and sober lives. To do that, we sit down with each of our residents and create a custom treatment plan for them. Hopefully, having a custom-made treatment plan will help people in drug rehab feel more comfortable about the entire addiction treatment process.
Knowing what to expect prior to receiving addiction treatment at a recovery center can help people get rid of some of the negative connotations that they may associate with drug rehab in their minds.
Addiction Recovery Takes Time
We know that attending drug rehab can be stressful and anxiety-inducing. Because we understand that, we here at Kingsway Recovery won’t overwhelm new, New Jersey rehab patients with too much information right out of the gate. The addiction recovery process is a marathon and not a sprint. Thus, we here at Kingsway Recovery will treat it as such and respect each of our residents’ time.
Prior to receiving addiction treatment at a recovery center, it’s important that one undergoes detox treatment. Detox is the process of ridding the body of any harmful substances that it has grown dependent on. While we don’t offer detox treatment here at Kingsway Recovery, we do help people get set up with detox treatment if they haven’t already completed it.
Detox should be done at either a medical detox facility or center or a drug rehab center that provides medical detox services. Attempting to self-detox at home can be incredibly dangerous or even life-threatening.

What Treatment Programs Does Kingsway Offer?
Once detox has been completed, the addiction treatment process can begin. Here at Kingsway Recovery, we offer four different types of drug and alcohol treatment programs that are created to treat a variety of addictions.
The 4 drug and alcohol rehab programs that we offer are:
- Partial Care Services (PC)
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
- Outpatient Treatment Program (OP)
- Medically-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Partial Care Services (PC)
Partial care services are drug and alcohol treatment programs that are less intensive than inpatient or residential treatment programs but more intensive than standard outpatient treatment programs. This is because a partial care rehab program incorporates aspects of both inpatient and outpatient drug alcohol rehab.
While receiving partial care treatment, rehab patients don’t live at rehab facilities. When partial care treatment patients are attending rehab at New Jersey drug rehab addiction treatment centers though, they will spend upwards of 20 hours a week participating in a variety of treatments.
Some treatments that partial care rehab patients will participate in include:
- Individual and group therapy sessions
- Family therapy
- Treatment of any co-occurring mental health issues
- Education programs
- Medical care
Partial care services are ideal for people that suffer from severe substance use disorders but don’t want to have to take time away from life to live in drug alcohol rehab facilities 24/7 while receiving care.Get Help Today
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Intensive outpatient programs allow the people in treatment to continue to live their regular, everyday lives, largely uninterrupted while still attending rehab. This is because IOP patients can continue to live in their own homes, work their normal day jobs, and go about their daily lives while still receiving addiction treatment.
Here at Kingsway Recovery in New Jersey, our intensive outpatient programs require each person participating to come to our rehab facility anywhere from 3-5 times a week. In addition, our IOP programs require patients to participate in a minimum of 9 hours of therapy a week.
Individuals that receive IOP treatment can go about their daily lives while undergoing treatment. Intensive outpatient programs are ideal for people whose addictions are moderate. Someone participating in an intensive outpatient program needs to have somewhere to live that’s a supportive living environment.Get Help Today
Outpatient Treatment Program (OP)
Just like intensive outpatient treatment, regular outpatient treatment doesn’t require patients to give up their daily lives. Thus, IOP and OP patients can still live at home, go to work or school, and generally live normal lives while also attending rehab meetings and therapy sessions.
The main difference between intensive outpatient and traditional outpatient treatment is the time commitment. Intensive outpatient treatment requires patients to attend rehab three to five times a week. IOPs also require patients to attend a minimum of 9 hours of therapy a week. Standard outpatient patients only need to attend rehab at addiction treatment centers for around a couple of hours a day, once or twice a week.Get Help Today
Medically-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Medically-assisted treatment (MAT) is usually designed for people that are suffering from either alcohol or opioid addiction. Through the help of certain, FDA-approved medications and the mental health services administration, those suffering from these specific addictions can be treated at addiction treatment centers for their ailments healthily and safely.
When it comes to medication-assisted treatment, the following medications have been proven to be effective:

What Types of Addiction Does Kingsway Recovery Treat?
Alcohol addiction is not only one of the most common addictions, but it’s also the toughest to detect. Because society has made drinking and drinking in excess acceptable in many situations, sometimes it can be tough to determine if someone has an actual drinking problem that may require him or her to attend alcohol rehab.
Some signs of actual alcohol addiction that may require that a person attend alcohol rehab include:
- Inability to control oneself when it comes to drinking
- Constantly having urges to drink
- Making drinking a priority
- Drinking alone frequently
- Frequently experiencing blackouts while drinking
- Drinking to feel better or normal
- Continuing to drink even when one knows that he or she shouldn’t
- Lying about one’s drinking
- Hiding one’s drinking
- Consuming more and more alcohol each time one drinks
Prescription drug addiction can be tricky. This is because people can take medications that doctors prescribed to them and unintentionally develop addictions towards those medications.
While many people develop addictions to prescription drugs unintentionally, there are still people that intentionally abuse prescription drugs. Because people can easily develop addictions to prescription drugs both intentionally and unintentionally, prescription drug addiction rates are high in America.
Some signs of prescription drug addiction include:
- Going to different doctor offices and pharmacies to try to receive more prescription drugs
- Using prescription drugs in ways other than directed
- Experiencing sudden weight loss or gain
- Experiencing changes in sleep patterns
- Doing anything in your power to obtain prescription medications or pills
- Experiencing sudden mood swings
- Falsifying ailments to obtain prescription medications
- Seeking multiple prescriptions at once
Gambling addiction, like alcohol addiction, can sometimes be difficult to spot due to the fine line between having fun and having a problem. When it comes to identifying a person with a gambling addiction, here are some things to be on the lookout for:
- That person continuing to spend money gambling even when there is no more money to spend
- That person tries to quit gambling but can’t
- The individual thinks and obsesses over gambling
- An individual lies about gambling
- The person hides his or her gambling habits
- The person neglects responsibilities in favor of gambling
- An individual lies to obtain money to use to gamble

Here at Kingsway Recovery in New Jersey, we offer addiction therapy as a component of our treatment program. Our addiction therapy services teach people how to best understand their conditions. Addiction therapies even teach people about how their conditions influence their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In doing so, our rehab patients can learn how to cope with their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors effectively.
The lessons that people learn in addiction therapy here at Kingsway Recovery can even help them continue their treatment journeys and prevent relapse that commonly occurs in the early stages of sobriety. Here at Kingsway Recovery in New Jersey, we provide addiction therapy services in individual and group formats.
The different types of individual and group addiction therapies that people often learn about include:
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the most commonly used types of therapy. CBT helps prevent patients at addiction treatment centers from relapsing. CBT also helps teach rehab patients strategies to take control over their problematic thoughts and behaviors.
Addiction doesn’t just affect the one suffering, it affects everyone around that person, including family members. Thankfully, family members of people that suffer from addiction or co-occurring disorders can overcome some of the issues that they have when it comes to their loved ones’ addictions and possible co-occurring mental illnesses by attending family therapy.
The idea behind family therapy is that problems exist between family members, not within them. Family therapy is a type of counseling that helps members of a family improve their communication with one another. Family therapy also helps family members resolve their familial conflicts and strengthen their family relationships.
Individual psychotherapy at our Kingsway Recovery treatment center helps individuals find solutions for their problems. For example, an individual psychotherapist may help a person who is dealing with a tragedy in his or her life.
Individual therapy can also help people overcome everything from being abused to losing their loved ones, to suffering from mental illnesses such as depression and addictive habits. During individual therapy sessions, the therapist helps the patient deal with challenging situations. Individual therapy takes place weekly, with the patient’s primary therapist. It focuses on developing a treatment plan, creating recovery goals, and dealing with co-occurring disorders.
Group therapy is a form of counseling with one therapist and a group of people with similar experiences. Here at Kingsway Recovery, we provide group therapy for people with similar experiences as it pertains to addiction and mental illness.
Through the support and personal interaction that group therapy patients are receiving from one another, they can process their addictions, cope with their addiction triggers, and grow afterward. There are many different benefits of group therapy.
